Review: Styling wands are basically curling irons without the top clip to keep your hair in place. This means in order to get the tight spiral curl, you have to hold the hair in place yourself while it sets. Which is why Remington includes a heat-protective glove with the wand! Thus there is a trial and error period while you adjust to using the wand. Best tip- make sure the 1 inch part is next to your head- this will keep the hair in better placement on the wand itself. If you look at my top picture, that would be the idea if someone is doing your hair for you.The included glove adequate enough to protect your fingers while holding the tip of the hair in place.

I like that it has a built in stand, but I do wish it was a little bigger, as if you don't set it down just right, it can tilt and start to roll over. I solved this by putting a folded towel underneath it, just in case. The cord also swiveled very easily, staying out of the way while I curled the hair.

The main problem I had was that the buttons are on the handle where I kept putting my hand, hence I had to make sure I locked the temp in before starting on the next section of hair. Once you do this it is ok, but really it is a bad design. Due to Miss Grace having fine hair, I kept the temp low. I do like that I can take it all the way up to use on my hair, which is thicker and coarser. It does heat up in 30 seconds, which is amazing to me!

We started with a pony tail, as she didn't want to sit still long enough for me to do the whole head!

I did larger sections, as she didn't want to sit still. I also used NO hairspray on the ponytail, as I wanted to see how long the curl would last naturally on an active 6 yr old.

2 hours later- the hair is nicely touselled looking, although the spirals are almost gone. Considering it was a quick curl, no hair spray and wasn't as tight as I wanted, it still would have done the job for most instances when I needed. Some hair spray and I'm sure the spirals would have stayed. I'm impressed! Though I may look at getting a traditional curling iron for waving curls, this new wand will more than take care of our curling needs for now!

  1. That girl's got nice hair. All I have now is a head full of frizz. I never saw a curling iron in a shape like that.

    1. she does- I wish I could get mine to that color! The wands are the 'new' thing- it's hard to find a traditional curling iron any more!
